Two nurseries, two kilometres apart

Both on the Madurai Road. The rose nursery at E. Puthupatty is where the family started in 1976; the nursery at E. Kamatchipuram grew into the larger of the two. Between them, a single potted rose or ten thousand trees.

He began with fruit saplings on a small plot. He sold to whoever walked in, and if a plant did not survive he took it back. People remembered that, and they told others.

He studied agriculture and brought grafting and budding into the nursery. That is what let us supply orchards and not only house gardens. He still does most of the grafting.

Field work and the second nursery

He looks after the day-to-day work in the beds and runs the second nursery at E. Puthupatty, about two kilometres away on the Madurai Road. If you are collecting a large order, you will usually deal with him.
